Oakland Coliseum
Conceived by an outdoor signage company as a way to enhance the entertainment events held at the stadium facilities (over 4 times more than sporting events per year), and to create a much-needed source of revenue for the complex, the project challenge was to create signs that were also attractive architectural elements. The design proposed and approved by the state draws imagery from both the Bay Bridge towers and the Coliseum itself, and through lighting design, adds an element of entertainment and vibrancy to what could otherwise be just another series of pole-signs. Services provided by IB+A include concept and design development, computer-renderings and imagery, promotional and marketing materials, and budgeting. The Center Tower won an award from Signs of the Times in their 2004 International Signage contest.
