City of West Hollywood Signage - Split Wing

Developed in response to an RFP released by the City of West Hollywood, the SPLIT WING concept is a biomorphic shape that draws its reference from angel’s wings. The curved sign faces are meant to attract the eye of visitors to the Sunset Strip, differentiating themselves from the other competing, flat advertising structures. The wings themselves differ in scale in order to relate to the advertising faces that they house. The larger wing provides the structure for the 20’ by 50’ digital advertising face, while the smaller wing houses the 15’ by 33’ backlit, static face. These wings are skinned in a mirror-finish aluminum in order to reflect the surrounding busy environment, adding an element of visual movement to the wings themselves.
